Of Poets, Fools

In days of poetry, fools
Gather to bring order
To entropic endeavors
Lost between the greens
Growing peace and greens
Bleeding lives, happiness
Reigns within the limits
Of sequential times
And the shackles of space
But oh poet, oh fool,
Whose tomorrow, whose
Capacity are set adrift.

Freedom Ringing

Not like a thunderstorm
Is the sound of freedom ringing,
But as quiet and as original
As blood flowing through veins
To and from hearts.

But just like a thunderstorm
Is the sight of freedom ringing,
Flickering and waking a dark world,
Saturated with renewing rains,
A whole of many parts.

Words – A Diamante

words
spoken, written
discerning, communicating, transforming
abundant, distinct, earnest, scarce
encompassing, humbling, elevating,
wise, ethereal
peace

Resolutions – An Acrostic

Realizing, rethinking, redoing
Established revolutions in this fling,
Standards adjusted, at least ’til spring.
Of what from our being shall forth we bring?
Living, knowing life hangs by a string
Under the bright lights of a circus ring,
Today’s few truths to which we cling,
Insidious thoughts still come crashing,
Over-indulgent, misinformed in everything,
Near-sighted they’ve become, leaving
Society without wing, yet still we sing.

Partakers and Passersby – A Palindrome

Partakers and passersby,
Words on eve, and damn
A descending world
Of beauty as love ’n
Intellects wander.
Of born child and woman,
Man, too: Will good
need renewing?
Gone, days of old,
Shivers past earth on.
Pièce de résistance,
Legacy of one lightened in
– Soul –
Enlightened, one of legacy,
Resistance Day
Peace on Earth,
Past shivers old, of days
Gone, renewing, need
Goodwill to man.
Woman and child
Born of wonder.
Intellects ’n love as beauty
Of world, descending
Adam and Eve, onwards
Passersby and partakers!

Black and White in Color

© Shainbird

At times – tough times,
Black and white exists
Clearly without bleeding
Of color, frivolousness
Loses velocity, deep breaths
Entomb smiles, hidden
Intertwined like branches
Of trees seen in starkness,
Birthday suits, showing
Wear are strong still yet
To venture in real world noir.

Note: This is for We Drink Inspiration – Poetry Prompt #005: Trial and Tribulation. This photo although for B&W Fridays was not altered from its color format, the world seemed black and white.

Out in the Quiet Night

Out in the quiet night
Winter ice persists
Below sunless skies, hard,
White paths go without
Trespass, trees prostrate
In despair crippled, encased
Leaf by leaf in agonizing
Love clinging, vapor rises
To skies soundless save
For bodies of bark creaking
In the wind to Earth’s
Exacting stance.

Out in the quiet night
Apocalyptic streets
Picture postcards make,
Static shadows on white
Fall gray, haunting
Landscapes unknown
By artists with fingers
Numbed by December’s
Disposition, secrets
Remain in need of whispers,
To be lost in the thawing
To oblivion.

Walking for provisions,
Era without conveniences
Revisited, accompanied
By nature out in the quiet night.
