A Ballad (Of Lives Lost in Parallel Worlds)

I’ve heard you say, you cannot live life without me;
But when we’re near, your words are rather few.
Won’t you leave FaceBook, Twitter and DirecTV
And come sit by and share your point of view?

The day’s for work and nights are made for sleep.
So when will you find time if life’s so brief?
A race of men once we were, now we’re down to sheep.
I want not times spent together be only just for grief.

Must you consume takeout, Snickers and Chobani –
Table-less foods and drinks not FDA approved?
Think back when you were just a wee, little baby,
And come break bread with me just like we should.

Alive or living, depends on time and money made.
No bird you hear nor rose you smell, you refrain
Beyond our end, then you shall certainly fade.
Live forever together, best we go against the grain.
