Falling Skies

Two squirrels circle
Round a constant oak,
Chasing each other,
Lovers in sunlight,
Workers by dark night,
Scaling trunks, hanging
From branches, acorns
And nuts to gather
Before cold days collect,
To the sound of the sky
Falling, thump, thump, thump.
