About Poetry & Shainbird

Hello and welcome.

I am a journalist/writer living in the U.S. Without a doubt, words are powerful. They are the communicators of humans and the liberators of thinkers. Writing things down is great for informing, remembering, healing, feeling, exploring and all the other gerunds you can think of. The art of storytelling promotes understanding of our world and its people. In an inverse relationship, there is so much to know and so little time.

As a writer of news, I’ve come to know a little about everything and everyone. As a writer of verse, I’ve come to know a lot about myself. My current blog is mostly poetry. Writing in rhyme and sensations is the flip side of writing news. Work and play and all in words, I’m blessed. I have made friends in the blogosphere that can challenge ones I’ve met on earth. There are more positive people in either world than what is magnified elsewhere.

Shainbird is my pen name. Though it sounds masculine, I am a woman. I chose to write under a pseudonym not to hide my identity but to write from within, without reserves that I know, otherwise, would be inescapably applied. This is beyond my control. I’ll have to address that in words one day. I may regret this ‘nom de plume’ if this blog gets anywhere. 🙂

Thank you for taking away from your time to stop by and read my words. Leave me yours! 🙂 🙂 I tip my heart to you.

  1. Thank you for the follow. Look forward to seeing more of your writing.

  2. Your poetry is great – wonderful diversity of topic and very accomplished with often difficult poetic forms…came across it by finding the poem about Death in my Reader and just went from there…fantastic!! 🙂

However, when a person follows me who is a master wordsmith, such as you, I am filled with pride. I look forward to reading even more of your offerings. 🙂

I found a very nice poem, I think from you, handwritten on a paper towel. It was quite beautiful. I would be interested in making contact with you about this. Feel free to contact me via my email, if you like.
